The CalMac ferry Isle of Lewis was met by emergency teams at Castlebay on Saturday (April 20th), after a passenger was injured during the crossing from Oban.

Stornoway Coastguard operations centre received a call at 4.45pm from the skipper of the Barra-bound MV Isle of Lewis requesting medical assistance, after a 77-year-old woman fell on board the ferry and fractured her wrist.

Castlebay Coastguard Rescue Team members manned the pier and helped transfer the woman to a waiting ambulance, after which she was taken to St Brendan’s Hospital for further medical attention.
