Youngsters from Stornoway Running and Athletics Club were in action at Grangemouth Stadium yesterday (Sunday July 29th) as part of the Islands Select team competing in Scottish Athletics finals.
The under-13/under-15 team finished runners up to Edinburgh AC in the eight-team YDL Lower Scottish Final, while Islands Select under-17s came fourth in the Scottish Athletics Under-17 challenge final.
It was the first time the young athletes from Lewis and Harris, Uist, Orkney and Shetland had worn their new rainbow-coloured Islands Select strip, sponsored by Buildbase, instead of their own team colours.
They were up against the best young athletes in Scotland and performed excellently in wet and windy conditions on the track and field. There were personal bests and high placings in many events, including for Lewis Maclean (pictured with his family), winner of the under-15 200m B competition.
