Water pressure to homes in Tong dropped dramatically on Sunday morning (September 30th) as a main burst in the garden of a home in the village.

The fault left villagers staring in dismay at soupy brown water as they prepared their Sunday dinners.

Scottish Water engineers investigated and had the fault fixed by 2pm in the afternoon.

Scottish Water said: “The repair to the burst main has been completed and water supplies will be returning back to normal very shortly, if they have not done so already.

“As we’ve moved water around in a different way to usual, some customers may see some discoloured water. This is nothing to worry about, it’s just harmless sediment that has been stirred up and it will gradually clear.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding.”
