Stornoway Rugby Club’s under-16 and under-14 teams were away to the mainland on Saturday (November 10th) for matches against Caithness RFC in Thurso.

On a fantastic November morning, in bright sunshine the under-16s joined Caithness U16's at Millbank, kicking off early to accommodate the islanders’ evening ferry home from Ullapool.

The match was a competitive affair with some big collisions on both teams and both sides making handling errors due to a ball slippery with early morning dew.

Stornoway’s reward for their combative display was a converted try right at the end of the match to make the final score Caithness 34: Stornoway 7.

The picture shows Stornoway U-16s getting stuck into the scrum and is from Caithness RFC.
