A pile of Santa suits is gathered at Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais awaiting the runners setting out on Saturday’s (December 22nd) annual Santa run in Stornoway town centre.
The suits in sizes large and small are available to runners and walkers who’ll be making the streets festive and raising money for the Lewis branch of Cancer Research UK at the same time.
The run, walk and jog sets off at 12 noon on Saturday from Stornoway Town Hall and follows a two-mile route up to the Co-op roundabout, along Matheson Road and Goathill Road, ending at the running track.
To complete the festive experience mince pies, mulled wine, water and numerous photo-opportunities will await at the sports centre.
Those who already have their own Santa suit can run for £3 or £2 for youths, while a Santa suit is available for those who need one, at £6 for adults and £4 for youths. An entry fee of £1 will be charged for Santa’s little helpers, who are encouraged to get decorated with tinsel, antlers or other Christmas clobber if they’d like to join in.
The Santa suits and entry forms are available now from the sports centre reception.
