The first single for 15 years has been unofficially released today (Monday January 14th) by Lewis-based indie-pop band Astrid.

Poison Reaction is the lead track on the new album Fall, Stand, Dance, due to be released on April 12th via Collins’ AED Records.

Astrid was a festival headlining band before disbanding in 2004. Founder members and schoolfriends Willie Campbell and Charlie Clark now collaborate across the Atlantic – Willie from at home in Lewis and Charlie now based in Los Angeles.

Trend-checking website BuzzBands.LA described today’s release as ‘the biggest early surprise of 2019’ and says that the band have picked up where they left off –‘with soaring melodies and heavenly harmonies.’

Local audiences can still catch Willie regularly on the Stornoway pub scene and in collaboration with other musicians as the lead singer and songwriter with Tumbling Souls and Open Day Rotation.

Astrid played a reunion gig to a sell-out audience at An Lanntair on December 22nd.

Poison Reaction is officially out February 22nd and can be previewed now on soundcloud at https://soundcloud.com/user-102837088/astrid-poison-reaction
