A further warning of ice for Lewis and Harris has been issued by the Met Office this morning (Wednesday January 23rd).

Issued at 10.15am, the warning covers the period between 6pm tonight and 11am on Thursday, and urges people to be aware of the risk of slips and falls with possible injuries and of icy roads making driving conditions hazardous.

The chief forecaster said: “Another cold night with a risk of ice, either where surfaces remain wet from daytime showers, or where further wintry showers fall onto frozen surfaces during the night and on Thursday morning.

"Showers will be a mix of rain, sleet and snow, with some slight accumulations possible, mainly above 200 metres.”
