Stornoway Airport café has restricted opening hours since Monday (March 11th), as the current franchise holder comes to the end of his tenure in the café.

Airport management has issued a tender call for a new franchisee twice, without finding a new tenant for the café space.

Despite the former operator agreeing to extend the arrangement, staff shortages have meant that since Monday there has been a sudden drop in hours when the café can be open.

It’s hoped that a new occupant for the central space can be found shortly, with limited opening hours meaning early travellers are unable to get a cup of tea or snack.

Informal arrangements are in place in case of any extended delays to flights, with non-café staff agreeing to make temporary use of café facilities ff necessary.
