There’s a chance to see some of the stars of Western Isles cheer and hip hop tonight (Wednesday March 27th) as the North West Allstars put on a cheer and dance display at Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais.

The quality of the performance on display will be glittering, as not only did young members of the group put in a top performance in a recent competition, but coaches Kirstie, Kayleigh and Abbie are all heading for the dance and cheer world championships in Florida in April.

The whole team were in fine form at the weekend (March 23rd and 24th), when they competed in Glasgow at the Allstar Cheer and Dance Company Allstarfest at the Lagoon leisure centre in Paisley. A team of young dancers competed and Stornoway’s star performer and coach Kayleigh Nicolson also performed with Team Scotland senior Hip Hop team.

Jazz duet dancers Mary and Maisi came back loaded down with trophies, having not only won their own youth jazz duet competition but also been named grand champions of all duets. As the picture shows, they had to fight off admirers Sandy and Hamish, who wanted to help them carry their trophies off the ferry as they returned!

The Northwest Cheer and Dance Display starts at 6.30pm at ISL tomorrow (Wednesday) with doors open at 6.10pm and just a few tickets available on the door. There’ll be a raffle and baking available and the evening includes the annual awards ceremony, with a trophy to be presented to the most improved pupil in each class.
