Willowglen Garden Centre delivered 30 large, beautifully planted, ceramic pots to some of the members of Girlguiding Harris in Tarbert this week.
The displays are now brightening up spaces around the village, pleasing to the eyes of local and tourists alike.
Over the coming weeks the blooms will flourish, providing an array of colour to the area.
The Western Isles Lottery have funded the displays with some of the proceeds raised by Supporters of the Lottery across the Harris area.
Janet Paterson of the Western Isles Lottery said “One of the three aims of the Lottery was to improve the Aesthetics of our Islands, particularly throughout the summer months and around Christmas time.
"Last year, some proceeds from the Broadbay Area were used to give Stornoway Town Centre a welcome upgrade by landscaping of some areas as well as providing a variety of potted floral displays.
"We are delighted to see in Year 2 of the Lottery that other areas across the Western Isles are also utilising their own area funding to do likewise for this summer. Stornoway Town Centre will see another significant upgrade this year and the Isles of Harris, Uist and Barra will all see admirable displays throughout their respective areas.
“It is wonderful to see Girlguiding Harris taking the responsibility for their own area this year. Each Girl Guide has been allocated a pot and Richard Robertson of Willowglen Garden Centre has provided them with the guidance on how to care for the pots to get the best results.
"Without the enthusiasm of Matilda Mackenzie-Lomas, the Girlguiding Leader, the project would not have come to fruition.”
Matilda said: “This is a very exciting project for the girls. There were lots of questions for Richard and they are now equipped with the knowledge to care for their pots. As reward for all their efforts, all funding raised by Harris Supporters to end July will go to Girlguiding Harris which will be an enormous boost for the group. This is a win-win situation for everybody and we hope the pots will be greatly admired during the coming months. We are very grateful to the Western Isles Lottery Team and Willowglen Garden Centre for helping us to make this happen.”
