Stornoway police are appealing for witnesses to an altercation in the town centre very early on Sunday July 21st, after a man was assaulted.

The assault happened at 12.10am on Sunday outside licensed premises in Point Street and police want to hear from any witnesses who may have noticed the events leading up to the assault, or the assault itself.

In a separate incident, a 28-year-old man was charged with assault and vandalism, after a domestic incident in the town centre on Saturday at 11.55pm.

The man appeared in court from custody yesterday (July 22nd) where he pled guilty and was released on bail, with sentencing deferred.

In custody overnight last night (Monday July 22nd) was a 29-year-old man who was charged with domestic assault following an incident at an earlier date. He is appearing in court today.
