Stornoway airport café is expected to re-open under new management on Friday this week (August 9th).
The café has been closed since April after the retirement of the former manager, leaving airport staff having to deal with disgruntled passengers unable to get a cup of tea while waiting for flights.
During most of the summer, the airport has offered an honesty box system and vending machines to provide a basic supply of refreshments.
The new café is to be run by contract caterers Elior, the company behind Benbecula airport’s Island Kitchen Café, which has received positive acclaim from travellers.
Local manager Fiona Mackenzie is in the process of setting up the servery and it’s expected that passengers will be able to buy refreshments at the new café by Friday this week.
