2020 started with double the joy at Western Isles Hospital yesterday (Wednesday January 1st), as the maternity department welcomed the arrival of two new baby girls for families from Stornoway and Ness.

Charlotte Elizabeth Salter made her arrival a week earlier than expected at 12.51pm, weighing 6lbs 4oz.

Mum Zara Macarthur of Stornoway said she was feeling good after the delivery of her “absolutely perfect, really gorgeous” baby girl, a first daughter for dad Darren Slater, sister for Kai, aged 11, and the third grandchild for Wilma and Peter Macarthur.

And Ruth and Leo Rees-Evans were similarly delighted to greet baby Beulah Ealasaid, born just six weeks after the family moved to Lewis and to their new home in Ness.

Brother Moses, 16 months old, has greeted his new sister with ‘lots of kisses’ according to mum Ruth, who said Beulah was born with lots of hair, weighing 8lbs 5oz, and was “happy, content and very beautiful.”

The pictures show baby Charlotte Salter with dad Darren, mum Zara and brother Kai, and Beulah Rees-Evans with mum Ruth, dad Leo and brother Moses.
