CalMac has warned of a possible three days of disruption to the ferry service between Barra and the mainland, with today’s (Monday Januray 21st) services cancelled and later sailings also under threat.

Winds up to 50 knots and associated swell conditions mean the crossing between Castlebay and Oban could be seriously disrupted, CalMac saying: “Due to adverse weather forecast, this service is liable to disruption/cancellation at short notice from Monday 21st to Wednesday 23rd January (inclusive).”

The Sound of Barra service is also subject to disruption at short notice.

Services between Lochboisdale and Mallaig are also cancelled today.
