Stornoway's An Lanntair arts centre currently intends to open its doors as normal tomorrow (Friday 23rd December) …although the town's sport centre is closed.

An Lanntair's galleries, cinema and café bar will be open for customers and audiences from 10am till late.

The centre says: "We will continue to monitor the Met Office updates closely and will advise customers immediately if there are any changes to this plan.

"Screenings tomorrow include Fantastic Beasts at 2.30pm, Nightmare Before Christmas at 6pm and Bad Santa at 8.30pm.

"Our Bah Humbug New Music Gig also starts at 10pm in the Café Bar."

Meanwhile ferry services into Lewis and Harris are cancelled on Friday 23rd and disruption is possible on Saturday 24th December. CnES say the public should refer to the CalMac website www.calmac.co.uk.

All bus services in the Western Isles are cancelled for tomorrow. A decision on bus services for Saturday will be made, and conveyed, to the public tomorrow.

As Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th December are local public holidays, there will be no buses running on those days.  Stornoway bus station will be closed tomorrow.

The latest local forecast from xcweather.co.uk shows gusts around 60/69 mph tomorrow, rather than the 90mph gusts forecast earlier.

How Ionad Spòrs Lèodhas/Lewis Sports Centre is closed all day tomorrow  (Friday 23rd December)

They said: "As a result of the Met Office Amber warning for wind speeds of up to 90mph tomorrow, all sports facilities will be closed all day.

"A Yellow warning is still in place for Saturday; we will review the situation based on the latest weather warnings tomorrow and update you all then."
