The winter snow looks set to return to the Western Isles again this week as the Met Office issues a Yellow warning for Snow and Ice tomorrow, Wednesday January 31st.
The warning runs from 3am on Wednesday to 6pm, to make all aware that following a spell of rain, temperatures are set to fall quickly, allowing ice to form on untreated surfaces.
Islanders can also expect frequent blustery showers of rain, sleet, snow and hail.
“Some roads and railways are likely to be affected by snow with longer journey times by road, bus and train services,” reads the warning, adding: “Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are also possible.”

UPDATE - 3pm, Tuesday January 30th - The Met Office has issued an extended Yellow warning for Snow and Ice running into Thursday, February 1st. Spanning mainly the east coast of the Western Isles, the new Snow and Ice warning runs from 6pm on Wednesday 31st through to 11am on Thursday, February 1st.
