New Tai Chi sessions for carers - aimed at relieving stress, and promoting relaxation and which can help improve balance, circulation, flexibility, physical and mental resilience - with teacher (Sifu) Alex Catterall - will also help people to socialise and receive support from others in a similar situation.
Being held at Hebrides Dance & Wellbeing Studio, at Stornoway Golf Cub, this is a new event by the Alzheimer Scotland Lewis and Harris Branch, being tested to try and reach more carers and families of people with dementia.
“We are aware that not everyone wants to attend a traditional ‘support group type event’ so are trying to introduce new ideas such as Tai Chi sessions, massage/treatments and the monthly supper club to try to reach out to more people.
"We are really open to new ideas and would really love to hear from other carers and family members about what type of events would interest them."
The event is supported by the Alzheimer Scotland Lewis and Harris Branch fundraising committee through their local donations.
