Today is the first day for new Essence of Harris shop in Tarbert.

They have moved to a new shop right in the heart of the village, opposite Hotel Hebrides and across from the ferry terminal which was formerly the tourist office.

Today (Saturday 30th March) just in time for Mother's Day, customers can pop in and see the new premises.

The company – formerly Buth Bheag Candles, explains: “In the last three years, our ‘wee shop’ on the Main Street has allowed us to welcome both locals and visitors from across the globe inside to sample our hand poured products, providing us with precious memories to cherish along the way.

“However, with the arrival of the spring season brings with it a feeling of new beginnings and fresh starts; a sentiment we’ve tried to project as we move into a new shop in Tarbert village.

“Filled with hand poured candles and home fragrance, lotions & unique Scottish gifts, you’ll be able to browse through a range of products which reflect the beauty and craftsmanship of the Outer Hebrides.

“Over the last month, it’s been an ‘all hands-on deck’ approach to the new shop as painting, plumbing, electrics and decor took full focus.

“A huge thank you needs to go out to all the local businesses who played a part in creating the new look for Essence of Harris.”
