An appeal has been issued to find an adult grey seal that needs urgent assistance.

British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) Hebrides say the female seal was last seen on 28 June at the Shiants.

The seal has rope and plastic filament around her neck, causing a deep, strangulating wound.

BDMLR Hebrides say the seal is already underweight and will die if she is not found.

The organisation is appealing for sea tours, holidaymakers, locals and fishermen to notify them if they spot the seal.  She is expected to come ashore in areas such as the Shiants, bays of Harris, Isle of Scalpay, Northton Area Beaches / Toe Head, Selibost, Luskentyre, Nisabost, Horgabost Beaches and Taransay.

Anyone spotting the seal is advised not to attempt to catch her, but to immediately call British Divers Marine Life Rescues Head Office on 01825 765546 with the seal's location or text or call local area coordinator Sara on 0753 191 0952.
