Air tickets to reach the mainland for the final two concerts by Runrig are almost completely sold out, despite extra flights laid on by Loganair for the weekend of August 17th and 18th.
Runrig are to play two farewell concerts at Stirling’s City Park on Friday August 17th and Saturday 18th, having added the Friday gig when tickets to the Saturday sold out within minutes of going on sale.
Western Isles fans plan to travel in force to the mainland for the Last Dance, billed as the final concert ever by the island favourites.
Loganair responded to overwhelming demand for flights by adding extra Glasgow flights outbound from Stornoway.
Now flights on Thursday evening (August 16th) from Stornoway to Glasgow, four out of five flights on Friday and morning flights on Saturday are sold out, while just a handful of seats remain on other flights. The afternoon flight from Stornoway to Edinburgh on Friday August 17th is also sold out.
Return demand is just as high, with three of Sunday’s five flights from Glasgow sold out, and even early Monday tickets snapped up.
The band have today (Monday July 23rd) posted showtimes for both performances, with gates opening at 3pm, Donnie Munro and band on stage at 5.30pm, Julie Fowlis at 6.20pm and Runrig themselves taking the stage at 7.30pm. The shows will finish at about 11pm.
