Western Isles Citizens Advice Service have been successful in being re-accredited for Scottish National Standards to provide advice and information in Housing, Welfare Benefits and Money Advice

Chairman of WICAS David Blaney said, “The skill and experience of our staff and volunteers throughout the Western Isles has been acknowledged by the Scottish Government with this award in these three topics.”

He added, “This has been a major achievement for our organisation and all the hard work by our team has now been formally recognised which is a great boost to all involved and on behalf of the WICAS Board I wish to offer our congratulations for their fantastic efforts in receiving this award.

At a recent meeting, the WICAS Board were informed that from April to September 2018 the financial gain for clients totalled £414,558.

The Chairman commented, “Client financial gain is money gained by the client through the involvement of our advisers and is confirmed by the paying authority or by the client themselves.

"In all likelihood as many gains will go unrecorded as we are not informed of them, the true figure will be much higher.

"The figure represents £3.60 for every £1 of core funding received, which is an excellent return for the funding being given to the organisation."
