Stornoway Coastguard Rescue Team headed to Branahuie Bay today (Thursday 11 April) after reports that the hull of a possible upturned vessel had been spotted.
The team investigated the object, which was located off the shoreline.
Assistance was requested from Stornoway RNLI and, after reaching the scene, the lifeboat confirmed the item to be a large piece of debris.
The item was dealt with and, when no further action was required, both the lifeboat and Coastguard team returned to base.
