Poster Boards promoting the annual Point Show have been placed in various places across the district.

Point Agricultural Society engaged in a community involvement initiative with the children in Sgoil an Rubha to create poster boards with an agricultural theme.

Children came up with ideas and artwork then painted boards before the school closed for the Holidays.

The artwork will also appear on the cover of next year’s show catalogue.

Elspeth Walker from Flesherin sponsored the project covering the cost of materials.

The boards can be seen on the main A866 Point road at Aignish (Braighe corner), Lower Bayble (Eagleton) turning and Sheshader road end. They will then be displayed at the Point Show this Saturday.

The Point Show is on this Saturday 13th July with gates open at 1pm.

New events at the show this year include a Loch an Tiumpan 5k Fun Run and a Junior handler in the sheep section.

Bring your tractor along to the classic tractor section.

Children can also get involved by decorating a welly, baking a novelty decorated cake or creating an animal or scene using fruit and veg.

Another fun item is Tunnagan na Rubha, fish a duck and win prizes.

Appeal for Volunteers

The Show committee also have an appeal for volunteers. With the passing of years and people on holiday many of our regulars are unavailable.

We are looking for people to assist with taking tea money, raffles, and general stewarding.

Volunteers just need to give an hour of their time as we operate a rota if numbers are sufficient.
