Are you dynamic, diplomatic and able to act as a link between national tourism strategies and local delivery?

If so, you could be the new Development Manager for VisitScotland in the Outer Hebrides.

The tourism organisation say: "The role is about contributing to the positive development of the island tourism economy by bringing to bear VisitScotland expertise and capabilities appropriately."

They state on welovestornoway.com that their ideal candidate will possess significant experience in partnership management roles, as well as being able to use their own initiative.

Robert McKinnon, CEO of the Outer Hebrides Tourism group, says: "We need to get a really good person in this role in order to link national policies and the needs of the islands and local areas."

Robert is keen to promote the right kind of tourism for the area, saying: "We live in a delicate environment and we need to respect that.  We want to encourage tourists to engage with the people and understand the traditions and cultures they are visiting.

"Part of this role will involve making sure policies and infrastructures are in place, and it would influence the campaigns VisitScotland run and the message they put out about the Outer Hebrides."

The ideal candidate for the job will be based in Stornoway, although other Outer Hebridean locations would be considered.  The role will involve working closely with VisitScotland's Marketing, Events, Communications and Insights team, aligning the tourism organisation's purposes with the needs of the islands.

The closing date for applications is next week (Wednesday 17 July).

Interviews will be held on 31 July.
