A series of lunches are being held around Lewis as celebrations for the island’s older residents.
 
While some groups held their festive functions before Christmas, others have January dates in the diary for a get-together and a good feed.
 
The first event is today (Tuesday January 7th) and is going ahead despite the weather, for over 60s in the Bayhead area of Stornoway. They’ll be getting together from 12 noon at Eleven restaurant.
 
The senior citizens of Manor and Castle ward in Stornoway are to have their lunch on Wednesday 8th January, also at 12 noon at the Caladh Inn.
 
The first Day Club of 2020 will be held at Comunn Eachdraidh Nis on Thursday January 16th, after the café at the centre re-opens to the general public on Monday next week (January 13th).
 
Tong community hall are holding a lunch for senior citizens on Saturday January 18th and are looking for extra volunteers to help with food prep, cooking and serving. Dinner will be served at 1pm on the day and helpers can make contact via the Facebook page here
