Outer Hebrides Tourism has today called for Friday's strike by Caledonian MacBrayne to be called off.

The group said it was 'extremely disappointed' to hear of 'yet another proposed ferry strike'.

A statement read: "Considering the massive disruption that our visitors have had to endure so far this year, this strike will cause more damage to our fragile tourism economy.

"We think that causing disruption to peoples holidays is totally unacceptable and the OHT will be making representations at the highest level for action to avert the strike, and compensation for visitors and businesses that have lost out as a result of the strike."
