Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron has welcomed the news that BASF Pharma has expanded its Lewis site following £2.8m worth of investment from Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
The site located near Breasclete has been developed to include a new warehouse which will help support the business as it continues to expand and also an extended car park to help support additional staff that the company seeks to add in future years.
BASF Pharma currently employs 73 people in the area.
Donald Cameron MSP has lodged a parliamentary motion noting the recent changes and welcoming the investment.
Donald Cameron MSP said: “I am encouraged by the commitment that BASF Pharma have shown to the Isle of Lewis and welcome this important investment which will help support the business as it continues to grow and in turn, allow the company to create more skilled jobs for islanders.
"Ensuring there are more well-paid skilled jobs is one of the many ways that will hopefully reverse the trend of island depopulation and grow the local economy.”
