Pictured is Janet Paterson from the Western Isles Lottery presenting a cheque for £2,128.80 to John "Corrags" MacLeod, Malina Morrison and Jonathan Smith of the Westside Agricultural Show Committee.
The funds were the proceeds raised from Lottery ticket sales from Supporters in the Ness & Westside Area. This follows funding already received in Area 2 by Eoropie Playpark and Carloway Community Centre, making a total of £5,075 distributed to date.  The welcome funding enabled the landscaping of an area of land beside the Barvas Community Hall to relocate their annual Show to a more suitable site. The new site will also be available for any local events to take place as well as additional parking facilities. They were also able to purchase a purpose-built Marquee to ensure future  Shows go ahead regardless of adverse weather conditions.
John "Corrags" sincerely thanked the Lottery for supporting their cause and emphasised how much value it was to the Community, adding: "So much more could be raised for the Area if more Supporters were to join in via the Lottery website www.westernisleslottery.co.uk and those folk in the area who do not use computers can also call the Lottery Support line on 0300 30 20 444 to buy tickets".
An announcement will be made shortly advising where the next lot of funding from the Ness/Westside Area will be going.
