Coastguard Rescue Teams from Breasclete and Miavaig were called to Breasclete pier at 4pm on Friday when an elderly passenger aboard a small cruise vessel fell ill and needed medical attention.

The National Geographic Explorer was anchored close to the coast and bringing passengers by Zodiac dinghy to see the Callanish Stones, when the captain called for coastguard help with the sick passenger.

The casualty was brought by Zodiac to Breasclete pier and assisted with landing, then taken onwards by Scottish Ambulance to Western Isles Hospital.

Other passengers concluded their visit to the stone circle before the vessel departed.
