The Harris Sports Centre in partnership with Skye based Charity Lucky to be here are hoping to provide Emergency Life Support training with defibrillator awareness to members of the public.

Starting on Friday 11th November between 7pm and 9pm, this two hour course will be run every week with the aim to equip members of the community with the skills and knowledge to make a difference in the event of an emergency situation, where there is no immediate professional help. The aim is to keep class sizes to between 6 and 8 people at a time so booking in advance is essential.

Defibrillators have now been installed in the following areas in Harris:

TARBERT - Outside the entrance to The Harris Sports Centre/School/Library.

Outside the CalMac pier offices, opposite The Hotel Hebrides.

SCALPAY - Outside the old dental clinic.

AMHUINNSUIDHE CASTLE- Outside the Castle Shop

LEVERBURGH - Outside the Clachan Stores

In this next phase of delivery other AEDs are hoped to be installed at Ardhasaig stores and West Harris, with longer term objective of covering as much of Harris as possible with this provision.

With the continuing delivery of these defibrillators into the community, training has to be provided. Members of the community are encouraged to attend these courses to gain the skills and knowledge to make a difference in an emergency where there could be a delay in the arrival of professional assistance.

These Defibrillators are funded by the local community and because the trainers are made up of volunteers the training is FREE!!
