Western Isles Police are holding an very “Special” recruitment drive at the station in Stornoway next month.

The drop in day on November 25th will be run by, and for, Special Constables in the islands with the aim of encouraging others to volunteer.

The event is part of a Highlands and Islands-wide recruitment drive to raise awareness of the support given to the police force by Special Constables.

Special constables are trained volunteers who support and assist regular police officers carry out their duties.

A Police spokesman said that they are an "invaluable resource" and vital to local policing teams and communities.

“Join as a special constable and you could be working alongside regular officers patrolling the streets as help as helping police major incidents and events.”

Everyone is welcome – whether they are interested in becoming a special constable, or are simply interested in how the service works.
