Charlie Nicholson recently paid a visit to the local Children’s Home, the Little Shepherd, in Nisporeni, Moldova, with generous donations from Lewis and Harris. Charlie drew Tighean Innse Gall's (TIG) attention to the condensation problem in the Home and TIG were delighted to donate insulation boards which he says will help enormously to make their living conditions warmer this winter.
A Blythswood Aid Lorry made the journey from Stornoway packed with the insulation and other donations such as clothing, furniture, sports goods, prams, musical goods, bicycles and books. Lewis and Harris have been supporting this area of Moldova since 2001 working with Blythswood Aid on many projects over the years including schools, hospitals, churches, PKU Children and the Moldovan Fire Service along with SERA which Charlie is a Trustee of. Charlie gave TIG a big thank you for the support.
Stewart Wilson, TIG CEO, commented “TIG’s mission is particularly about helping the vulnerable so we were really pleased to provide practical support in this way to help keep these children warm. It was so encouraging to see photos of the children and workers accepting our donation and an inspiration to see them keen to get to work”.
