A Coastguard Rescue Officer will be heading to Nepal for a 10-week stint of volunteering.
Kayleigh Smith, who works with the Ness Coastguard Rescue Team, will be volunteering for development charity, Raleigh International.
Kayleigh stated on her Just Giving page: "During my time there I will be living with a host family and working with the community on two different projects.
"One is a project called WASH (water sanitation and hygiene) which will help rural communities gain access to cleaner/safer water and teaching good hygiene practise.
"The other project is called Livelihoods, this will focus on helping young people develop the skills and access the finances needed to start and develop a business which will enable them to make a living.
"Any donations would be incredibly helpful and would help make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate than us."
Kayleigh is hoping to raise £800 through her Just Giving page and, at the time of writing, has raised just over the half-way mark.
Kayleigh will leave for Nepal in October and will return in the New Year.
