Music and Dance

There's a wealth of live music and entertainment scheduled for the holiday period, and there's sure to be something to suit lovers of every music genre.

The Edge O'the World has a Wee Winter Shindig on the 27th (tickets required - limited numbers available), live accoustic music with Felix Saunders on the 28th and their monthly House and Electro set with Frazer and Del on 29th - all until 2pm.

On Thursday the 28th we have the usual Open Mic night at McNeill's and the Crown's weekly trad music session. In Harris, Spanish will be playing Hotel Hebrides.

It's An Lanntair's annual end of year extravaganza with Willie Campbell and friends on Saturday the 30th, Rock Island Line rock the year out at the Rangers Club and Kroftwerk play at Hotel Hebrides in Tarbert. 

Era Stornoway has 12 party nights to choose from right through to new year and beyond, and will be open until 3am for most of them! 

The Sea Angling Club will be host to a variety of events: it's EDM night on the 29th, Pandejo on the 30th and Strange Brew welcome in 2018 on New Year's day.

For more family orientated fun, there's a Family Ceilidh with Hò-rò at An Lanntair on Wednesday the 27th, and a Pre-Hogmanay Family Ceilidh at Barvas and Brue Community Centre on Saturday the 30th.

Don't forget, many venues offer free soft drinks for your designated driver - ask at the bar!

Cinema  

There are lots of great films showing at An Lanntair over the next few days, classic Christmas animation The Star, Batman and Wonder Woman recruit a team of metahumans to save the world in Justice League, and for something more grown up there's Murder on the Orient Express directed by Kenneth Branagh who also stars as Hercule Poirot.

There are also art exhibitions in the main gallery and bar area of the Arts Centre - which will be open for a trial period on the last Sunday of every month until March -  and an Open Gallery at Talla na Mara.
