Award-winning quartet Fara (seen above in a photograph by Mike Guest) have added their support to HebCelt’s industry-leading efforts to improve gender equality among artists at music festivals.
A recent survey showed that women made up just 26 per cent of festival line-ups in the UK in 2017 and a campaign was launched to achieve a 50:50 balance by 2022.
Saturday 15th June saw the opening of 'Isle inspire': two local artists exhibitions at Morven Gallery in Barvas. Gill Thompson's 'Beachcomber' collection of collagraph prints and Donald Libby's 'Salt in the blood' display of maritime sculptures sat alongside each other picking up the colours and atmosphere of the islands.
The Stornoway Historical Society’s Iolaire exhibition is now on display in the Stornoway Historical Society offices, at Stornoway Town Hall.
The exhibition, which was previously on display at Sandwick Community Centre, was put together by the Stornoway Historical Society, in Collaboration with Point and Sandwick community councils.
The exhibition details the impact of the tragedy on the areas of Point, Sandwick and Stornoway and plays an important role in the Iolaire centenary commemorations.
