The Scottish ballet are celebrating 50 years of inspiring audiences on and off stage, sharing their passion for creating exceptional dance. As part of this celebration they are bringing Wee Hansel and Gretel to Stornoway - A wee version of a big ballet. The show will be on twice a day at 11am and 1.30pm on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 July in An Lanntair.
The Scottish Ballet said: '2019 is our 50th anniversary, and we want you to be a part of it.
'Join Hansel & Gretel as they go on an adventure deep into the woods… Along the way you’ll meet a rather beguiling Witch and her mysterious raven, before arriving in an enchanted gingerbread house filled with dancing sweet treats and toys that come to life.
'This specially adapted show is the perfect way for young children (and their grown ups!) to discover the magic of ballet.'
Scottish Ballet is delighted to be supported on the 2019 Wee Hansel & Gretel tour by Loganair, Scotland’s national airline. Following the success of the partnership in 2018, Loganair are flying the dancers, and the support teams to stage this family show all across Scotland.
Kay Ryan, Commercial Director, Loganair, said: ‘Our partnership with Scottish Ballet on their Highland Fling tour last year was an undoubted success, and this latest sponsorship further emphasises Loganair’s commitment to supporting the local communities we serve in the Highlands and Islands by helping to deliver thrilling live performances from Scotland's national dance company.’
Supporting Partner, Caledonian MacBrayne, is transporting the dancers, the support teams and the Hansel & Gretel sets, making sure staging this tour, so far from base, is plain sailing for Scottish Ballet to and from Stornoway and Ullapool.
