An extra livestock sale has been put into the calendar at Steinish, with the intention of continuing a fundraising campaign to support bereaved parents of stillborn or newborn babies.

The show’s being organised by Stacy Easton and Murdo Maciver, who are already active fundraisers, raising £6,850 in 2018 for stillbirth support charity SiMBA, following the loss of their son James.

Stacy said: “Our last auction mart event was such a great success, we are planning on hosting another charity sheep show and auction, with a raffle, on Saturday the 7th March in memory of our baby boy, James Murdo Maciver who sadly passed away in November 2017.”

SiMBA is a charity which supports the needs of those affected by the loss of a baby during pregnancy or close to the time of birth; and sadly Stacy and Murdo first became aware of SiMBA’s services following the stillbirth of baby James.

“For us, it was about more than just raising money for SiMBA, it was also about telling people about the charity, how it works and just how much it helped us,” said Murdo.

Helping SiMBA to continue their work, Stacy and Murdo set about raising funds for SiMBA through a Charity Auction Show, held in Lewis and Harris Auction Mart, Steinish, and a Charity Winter Ball in the Caberfeidh Hotel both held in 2018.

This year’s show will be at the Steinish Mart of Lewis and Harris Auction Marts and Stacy said: “Everyone is welcome to bring along livestock for the show. Please message myself or Murdie if you’re taking livestock along so we have a rough idea of numbers for each class.”
