It was a big night for Westside Football Club on Friday (January 11th) as Lewis & Harris Football Association held their 2019 awards at the Caladh Inn in Stornoway.
Westside were crowned league winners after the end-of season tension between themselves and Point FC, the clubs neck and neck until the deciding game. Ali ‘Barvas’ Macleod made it a club double winning the award for player of the year.
Meanwhile ‘goal machine’ Fraser ‘FrazMac’ Macleod of Carloway FC was named top goalscorer of the year after totting up 35 goals in 19 appearances. Fraser also came in second place in the player of the year rankings.
Jack Maclennan of Stornoway United was named goalkeeper of the year and the under-21 player of the year was Stevie Mutch of Back FC.
The awards night came ahead of the current pre-season ‘transfer window’ with management teams for Lewis and Harris teams seeing some changes. Alex Wright, former goalie with Point FC, has joined Stornoway United FC as assistant manager, and  Kevin Anderson and Stewart ‘Tyson’ Campbell will be taking over management of Stornoway Athletic FC for the coming season.
