Two minor faults in Stornoway town centre are under repair by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks this afternoon (Monday January 28th), with some businesses affected by loss of power.

A blown fuse in the sub-station in Perceval Square meant loss of power to 30 properties, mainly shops, in the town centre.

The fault was reported at 3.45pm and it is hoped that repairs will be complete by 5pm.

Meanwhile a fault exposed on Stag Road means the tenants at Trust Housing will be without power between 6 and 8pm this evening.

A cable is to be repaired and engineers have ensured that staff at the housing complex are aware of the situation and can make arrangements before the power goes off.

A spokesman for SSEN apologised for inconvenience to customers.
