A 49-year-old man was taken to hospital on Friday afternoon (February 23rd) after his car collided with a lamp-post on the Tong Road.
Police, ambulance and a fire crew were called to the B895 at 3pm on Friday, after the man’s car left the road and hit the lamp-post before ending on its side against a wall.
Police enquiries into the incident are continuing, and they have asked for anyone who saw the accident happening, or who has any further information, to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
Fireworks raise alarm
Stornoway police were called to deal with fireworks being let off in the town in the early house of Friday (23rd February).
Police received a number of reports from householders just before 1am on Friday that fireworks were being let off in the Plantation Road area.
Two men, aged 24 and 35, are to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for contravention of the fireworks regulations.
Drink-driver in Marybank
A man who was stopped because of the way he was driving has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for drink-driving.
Police spotted the 26-year-old while he was driving in Marybank at 2am on Friday (23rd February).
Youths cause disturbance
Stornoway police responded to a number of reports of youths causing a disturbance in Stornoway town centre in the early hours of Friday (February 23rd).
Between 1.30am and 1.50am reports came in of youths who were causing concern in Stornoway town centre and in the Castle Grounds.
A 22-year-old man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal for disorderly conduct and for assault on police officers following the incident.
