A 20-year-old woman is to appear in court after smashing her car up in a single-vehicle road accident in Point this morning (Sunday June 30th).
The woman knocked on a door in Shulishader looking for assistance, just before 5am this morning, reporting that her car had left the road. Police were called and the woman was processed and taken to Stornoway police station, where she was charged with drink-driving.
She was released on an undertaking to appear in court at a later date.
Car noise nuisance – townsfolk complain
Police have received a series of complaints about excessive noise from vehicles over the weekend, with town centre homes on Bayhead and the surrounding area especially affected.
Complaints included excessive revving of engines and modified exhausts causing considerable noise.
Police will follow-up any report of noise which includes details of the vehicle, including a description and registration number. Vehicle ‘ASBOs’ can be issued to drivers if the details are confirmed and could lead to the driver having the vehicle confiscated if they are warned more than once about the same issue.
