A group of drivers heading south on the main road to Harris today (Monday July 29th) include some owners heading for Uist at the end of a real tractor marathon.
The 2019 Tractor Run from Stornoway to Leverburgh set off from the Porter’s Lodge in Stornoway at 9.45am this morning, heading south to raise funds for the Hebridean Men’s Cancer Group.
They’re expected to reach Leverburgh around 5pm, taking in some scenic photo stops on the way, and they’ll be at South Harris Agricultural Show tomorrow (Tuesday 30th July) for show-goers to meet the drivers and admire the array of tractors old and new.
Among the drivers are Kenny Wallis, Iain Macaskill and Iain Anderson all from Uist and Barra, who have taken their vintage tractors on a circular route from Uist to Skye, completing the North Coast 500 and crossing from Ullapool to Lewis on last night’s freight ferry. Just a few of those travelling with them are pictured at Ullapool by Ken Stewart of Passing Places Photography.
The entire group will be at tomorrow’s South Harris Show where they’ll be shaking the buckets for the Hebridean Men’s Cancer Group, or you can donate to Macmillan Cancer Care via Kenny’s page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/kenny-wallis.
