Stornoway muscle-man Stuart Macdonald is coming home from the Bahamas on a high, after being officially honoured as one of the world’s top five fitness models.
Stuart was placed fourth on his first attempt at the World Beauty Fitness and Fashion championships, held in the Bahamas on Friday and Saturday last week (August 9th and 10th).
He’s spent the days since the finals buzzing with adrenaline and trying to come to terms with the idea that he is now officially among the fittest men in the world.
After the final on Saturday, Stuart said: “What a battle, to say I’m exhausted is an understatement! I managed to get top five in my first world championships, against the strongest line up I’ve ever seen at a WBFF show. I’m absolutely buzzing and shocked still, what a feeling!”
Stuart has only been competing since early 2018, after developing an interest in competition through idols like South African Jaco be Bruyn. In November he won the gold at the European Championships, and now he’s had a taste of the high life he has no intention of giving it up.
In fact, the first thing on his mind as he heads home to Scotland is defending his European gold medal. He said: “Next stop, London European Championships, to defend the gold. 10 weeks out ..... need to get back in the gym after all them pizzas!”
