A woman aged 51 is to appear in court today (Monday September 2nd) after an anonymous report led to police stopping her on Willowglen Road at 1pm yesterday and charging her with drink-driving. She remained in custody overnight tonight.
She was just one of a number of drivers stopped by Stornoway police over the weekend and charged with a variety of offences.
At 12.20am on Saturday (August 31st) a 22-year-old woman was stopped in Stornoway town centre and found to be driving without insurance. She was issued with a fixed penalty.
A man aged 20 was found to be driving with no MOT when he was stopped in the town centre at 1.45am on Saturday. He’s to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Later on Saturday morning a 42-year-old man was stopped while speeding on Willowglen Road and found to be driving with no insurance. He was stopped at 4.30am and is to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
Police are also asking for information after a report of vandalism to a blue car which was parked behind the Royal Hotel in Stornoway between 4.20pm and 5.20pm on Friday.
The car was deliberately damaged by scratching and police want to hear from anyone who can give information on the incident (NH1195/19).
