The Isle of Barra faces another weekend of disruption as winds again build to storm force today (Friday January 10th).
Winds are expected to peak from 7pm tonight, gusts of 60mph expected by midnight, according to the Met Office. The forecast shows high winds continuing through the weekend, and a new weather warning is now in place for Monday, forecasting a spell of very windy weather on Monday afternoon and evening.
Loganair has offered refunds to passengers who intended to fly to or from the island today, although the single flight of the day has now taken off from Glasgow (10.23am)
Ferries are running to an amended timetable, with the return sailing from Oban already heading for Castlebay and expected to arrive around 1.15pm, to tie up ahead of the storm.
Meanwhile the 15:40 sailing from Ardmhor will depart early at 1.40pm and the 4.30pm from Eriskay at 2.30pm. Sailings at 5.20pm from Ardmhor and 6.15pm from Eriskay have been cancelled.
There’ll be no fish suppers at Barra airport café tonight, with staff and customers alike staying tucked up safe at home.
