Western Isles health board is marking the 72nd birthday of the NHS today (Sunday 5 July) with a look back at some of the stalwart individuals who have provided health services in the islands over the years.

Archive interviews and newspaper reports on their website include a focus on the air ambulance service out of Renfrew with nurse Cathy Macdonald of North Uist, District Nurse Catherine Mackay of Cross Skigersta, Ness and Drs A J and Julia Macleod of Lochmaddy.
