Forecast strong winds and a technical problem with the bow thruster have combined to affect sailings between Stornoway and Ullapool today (Thursday 20 August).
The MV Loch Seaforth completed her 7am crossing from Stornoway and has left Ullapool on time this morning, but CalMac are warning that sailings later today could be disrupted.
They said: “Due to continuing technical problems with the bow thruster and continued strong wind forecast, affecting safe operating parameters, the 2pm departing Stornoway and 5.30pm departing Ullapool are liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice.”
Tonight’s freight service departing Stornoway at 10.30pm and leaving Ullapool at 3am tomorrow (Friday) could also be affected.
Meanwhile other island services are potentially affected by the forecast strong southerly winds today.
Sailings on the Uig triangle (Uig-Tarbert-Lochmaddy) are running to an amended timetable and services on the Sound of Barra (Eriskay-Ardmhor) and Sound of Harris (Berneray-Leverburgh) are on yellow alert for disruption.
The MV Loch Portain is also operating to an amended timetable on the Sound of Harris due to tidal conditions.
