The Stornoway store of Edinburgh Woollen Mill will not reopen despite news this week of rescue for other stores in the troubled chain.

Administrators confirmed today (Thursday 14 July) that Stornoway’s EWM store is not part of the deal which will see 246 shops and 1,453 jobs saved by Purepay Retail Ltd.

Administrators FRP Advisory said that the Stornoway branch is one of 85 stores which will be permanently closed, and that Peacocks, which also has a branch in Stornoway inside the Maculay Road Co-operative store, remains in administration.

FRP Advisory were appointed on 5 November 2020 as administrators to Edinburgh Woollen Mill Ltd, which owns Peacocks, and have in recent weeks been marketing the businesses for sale.
