Loch Carnan power station in South Uist is still running today (Wednesday 24 February) and is now sending power back across the Minch to parts of Skye.

The main grid power loss caused by a fault at Ardmore power station in Skye on Monday has been fixed, according to a spokesperson for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN).

But a separate incident yesterday on the transmission network in Skye, understood to be a broken pole in the Broadford area, means that parts of that island, as well as all of the Uists and Barra, are still being powered by diesel generation.

The SSEN spokesperson said that the engineering work should be completed by the end of today and apologised to customers for the continuing issues.
