An appeal has gone out from the pirates of Tong for more crew to help man the ship.
With new play equipment proving a big hit with the children of the district, Tong Residents’ Association are keen to keep up the impetus in a year with huge potential.
Tong Residents’ Association is responsible for running the community hall and for other developments in the village, but the numbers on the association committee are dropping.
Chair Kathryn Lamont Smith said today (Sunday 7 March): “2021 has the potential to be a huge year for Tong Hall, but we need help!
“We have secured funds for a part-time development office for the village, a growing project with a new village polycrub, a new skatepark next to the hall and continued upgrades to the play park, hall and hopefully the football pitch.
“These are all huge and exciting projects that will provide great new facilities and opportunities for people who live in the village, but they cannot happen without village support.
“The TRA are down to a handful of volunteers. We are a great team who do so much already but we need new members to help with these projects and running the TRA.
“Over 200 people recently liked the post about the new playgroup pirate ship. If even 10 of these people joined to help on future projects, we would be in a wonderful position.”
